Make Somebody Happy Today

Don’t you love whenever someone compliments you? It gives you happiness and confidence, doesn’t it? Why not spread the happiness to other people? When we get compliments it is always good. But there are some people who never get any compliments and are always down. Once in awhile make someone’s day, make them smile they deserve a compliment and to be happy lets be someone who makes someone’s day. I see many people around Holbrook High School that are always down when I walk by them and it makes me sad and most the time I don’t say anything to them.

Once and a great while I stop and say something nice to someone like “you look nice today” and they get this huge smile on their face and say thanks which makes me smile because I finally get to see a smile on their face. I know when I am having a bad day and someone compliments me it brightens up my day and makes me feel better. When I say make somebody happy today do it by giving them something to smile about such as a compliment or even a “hi” or “how is your day?” because when we are sad there is nothing like compliments or even just a hi that gets us through the day. We would love to be talked to or complimented all the time would you agree? It gives us happiness and a little bit of confidence.

I have noticed that there are many students at this school that have bad days and we can make a change in that. We can turn someone’s day around and even make a change in someone’s life. I think that we all deserve to be happy and if we already are why not spread the happiness it will do good to many of us. We should think about other sometimes and make their day, so they can go home happy or maybe you stop them from making a bad decision. We could have that impact on people if we really tried and maybe if we cared. Life is too short to be sad or mad, let’s help others be in a bright spirited state of mind. I know that in each and every one of us there is care so let’s show it to others. My advice to you is to make someone happy every day the rest of the year, it is worth a try and it is worth a change. Make somebody happy today, even the rest of the year!

Don't Give Up, Don't Ever Give Up

This past weekend our lady roadrunners basketball team went to the final four. This is such a huge accomplishment for them and for our school. Before they headed down to Glendale we had a pep assembly in honor of them and other sports that have done well this year. When Mr. Perkins was speaking on behalf of the girls he told us a few quotes, one quote that stuck with me was “Don’t give up, don’t ever give up.” Throughout the girls season they had their ups and downs like any other team does, but when playoffs for state was here they changed everything around. They played with all their heart and passion. These girls have worked so hard for this and wanted it so bad and have made it to the final four. I am so happy they got to this far and are leaving history behind them. Why that is? Well they never gave up!

"Don’t give up, don’t ever give up" is a quote that I feel we should all live by. I certainly will live by this quote because I believe it will help me succeed in anything I want to accomplish. I am glad that I heard this quote. It can be a life lesson. There are always times in our life where we run into situations and we just want to give up. Well in the end we think it over and we tell ourselves "I should have never given up, look where I would be or what would happen. Why do we think of the should have's, what if’s I believe that if we just never give up we would rarely have these thought. It could be a lesson learned or you could even be successful.

Holbrook high school is a very talented school, we have many people who can play instruments, who can sing and our sports teams are great. Our spirit line took 5th in state a few weeks ago, many of our wrestler’s places in state last weekend, and our girls basketball team made it to the final four. I am a very proud roadrunner fan!! I don't believe that any of our sports or even band members ever gave up or they would have never ended where they did. So give it a chance, try living by this quote. Don't ever give up because we don't know where we will end up. Anytime you want to give up remember "Don't give up, don’t ever give up."

Don't Take Anything for Granted

There are many people in this world that are going through something that is holding them back from accomplishing something big; whether it is a family problem, or even having a baby to take care of. Then there are people who may have no problems at all or maybe or maybe they even have a situation that they can get through and that have amazing opportunities or a great future ahead of them because of what they are offered. When we are given something big and we have nothing holding us back we tend to forget that opportunities are something that is given to some people or that there are people who would kill for it, but yet we don't go for it. Well I just want to give those who have nothing holding us back a little advice.
I have a few friends that have gotten pregnant in high school and are struggling on making decisions. One of my friend who is in a decision making situation where she wants to go to college but she doesn't want to leave her on. Which I respect because she is an amazing mother and she wants to do the right thing for him. I would say that there are many people who are going through this. Many of us who are given something so great take many things for granted. When we taken things for granted there are people who wish to have that opportunity. I mean they would give anything to have what opportunities we have and some of us don't realize that. Think that if we would see that then we would have inspiration and determination to go do all the opportunities given and that are waiting for us and not throw them away.
I am posting this to encourage us all to do what we are capable of doing. Don't let something go if you want it or if you can do it, straight into it. We have nothing holding us back and so we shouldn't just give it up. We have to remember that there are people who are given the same opportunity as us but may be in a situation that they aren't able to take it. My advice to you, don't take anything for granted do everything that you can possibly do that is offered to you. My advice to you is to remember to not take things for granted, people wish for the opportunities we have.

Don't Judge a Book by its Cover

We have all judged a book by its cover and not even just a book but even someone. I admit I have done this too. But it is like we just can’t help ourselves right? As soon as we see someone we have never seen we automatically think many things that they truly aren’t, rarely are they what we think. Every time that I judge someone or a book I have been wrong about my judgment, and I am sure that you have as well. Well my goal for this year is to avoid judging someone I do not know or to stop judging a book just by the cover of it, and I believe that we should all do the same. I have had many experiences of this and I regret everything I have said about someone. Just recently we have gotten new people in my student council class and when I first heard that they were coming into the class I was a little upset and scared because I didn't think they would help out and they were just in their for their boyfriend or their best friend. But as it turns out I was absolutely wrong.
Dawson Diaz, Emily Eaveson, and Cece Moody were they new kids in student council and let me tell you I have gotten to know them these past few weeks and they are the most helpful, and outgoing people in student council. The first day they were in the class we were talking about advertising our Valentines dance and when Kylie Korperich asked the class who was making signs both Emily and Cece immediately raised their hands and said “We will!” I was surprised that they were the first to raise their hands.
Student council always face paints at the home basketball games and when we had sign ups Cece signed up for a time I was painting faces so I thought ok maybe I can get to know her a little more. So at the basketball game as we were painting faces we started talking then we cleaned up at six and went to watch the game Cece and Emily came over and sat by us and they were very talkative and comfortable with me and it made me feel comfortable with them so at that point I loved them, they weren't what I thought they would be, they were absolutely amazing. Since then I have gotten closer to them and they have become good friends of mine.
Every week student council has a bonding day and they are so much fun. We were playing a game when one person sits in a seat and the person standing tells the person sitting what they admire about them, and well Dawson had many turns and the bell was just about to ring to go home he stands up and says “ OK, I am not picking one person I am picking all of you. I admire all of you because you all made me feel welcomed into this class and you made me a part of this great family and this is my favorite class.” That was so nice he was always quiet since his first day in student council and he just came out and says that. I never knew he liked us all that much. It made me realize that judging someone by how they look or judging someone by what you think is not something that you should do because you really don’t know someone you are making an assumption that is not entirely true. Since my goal for this year is not to judge a book by its cover I say we should all try it. Don’t judge a book by its cover.

Live life to the fullest

My wonderful classmates of 2013, I know that some of you may not want to read this because it is about graduation and you will get sad and you do not want to think about it because you want to be happy. But hey, there is nothing to be sad about you are just starting your life it is a happy thing. Throughout my high school years I have realized that I have not been myself because of a little fear of what others will think of me.
Just this past weekend I went to a stucco convention and I was truly inspired to be who I am and not care what other people think because I can only live this part of my life once. It is not easy to just in a blink of an eye be who you are, it does take a little time with a few steps. So here is a little advice if you were or are like me because e only have three and a half months left here and I know that we do not want to care what others think of us.
Our lives are about to begin and we are about to leave high school. Some of us are sad to leave our parents, our friends, to be independent people and pay bills and some of us are ready to go out and be on our own to start our life. The past three years and the past few months that we have been in high school we have had great memories and made wonderful friends but maybe we have held ourselves back as little. My advice to you is stop holding yourself back we have a short amount of time here in high school and we do not want any regrets. The people we are around right now you may not ever see them again so what is the stress about caring what they think.
The rest of the time we are here in this great school, let us make them memorable because we will later look back and think about these data. Do not be that person in the back who is quiet, be crazy, be loud, get involved in whatever you can, who cares what people think. Get embarrassed, the feeling is only temporary and the memories we make last a lifetime. I know that it it not easy as I may make it sound but like I said earlier it will take awhile and it will happen by little steps until you are there.
So remember work your way to being yourself, be loud, get involved, and make everlasting memories because on May 24th, when we walk across that stage we will not live this part of our life again. But we will take the memories with us, so do not be sad that high school is over, be happy that we are about to start our journey to success and start a nevermind chapter of our lives. Be ready to sturggle but most importantly be ready to succeed. I love class of 2013!
